Colemill's President II conversion for 55 A and B model Barons enhances climb and cruise speeds. The optional "Zip-Tip" winglets add even more lift and improve flight stability.
George Clay of Lexington, Kentucky, recently had a Colemill President II modification performed on his Baron. Clay said he decided to get the conversion for the extra speed and added value to the airplane it offers. But once the modification was performed, Clay found that it does much more than just make the airplane faster and more valuable.
"The biggest difference is the climb. I've put it at 15 degrees nose up and climbed at 130 knots. And you get all that choppy sound out. You don't have all that prop synch noise. It's just a whole different airplane. I get to my destinations faster and put less time on the engines. So, I figure I'm saving money because my engines aren't running as much. I'm going just as far but not putting as much time on the engines," Clay said.
But what about the original objective of more speed and value?
Clay said, "I consistently flight plan 195 knots and get it." Prior to the modification, he flight planned for 175.
And the extra value clay wanted is there too. Aircraft price reference guides show that the cost of a Colemill modification is added to the value of the airplane if it is sold.
The President II modification is available for Baron 55A and B models.
The modification includes installation of Continental IO-550 300 h.p. engines, new three blade props, new governors, and a Shadin Digiflow fuel computer.
As pleased as Clay is with his President II modification, he said he is equally pleased by the type of service he received from Colemill.
"I wish dealing with people in business was as easy as dealing with Colemill. It's like it was years ago. You take a man at his word and don't have to ask a second question," he said.
