Just about anyone --- assuming they have the proper training, tools, licenses, and STCs --- can swap out engines on an airplane.
But a Colemill conversion goes well beyond just an engine swap. That’s why we call them modifications and conversions ---
the airplanes are transformed into a much better flying machine than they were before and much better than they would be with just new
engines alone.
For example, Colemill’s Panther Navajo,
Foxstar Baron, and Starfire Bonanza conversions get --- in addition to new,
more powerful engines --- four blade "Q-Tip" propellers that provide a remarkably quiet and smooth ride and additional ground
clearance.
The Panther Navajo and
Foxstar Baron also come with Colemill’s "Zip-Tip" winglets
which provide additional lift to shorten takeoff runs, increase the rate of climb, improve in-flight stability, and
permit approaches to be flown slower. The winglets on the Panther Navajo also have landing
lights built in so that landing lights can be used for recognition purposes with the gear up. While the winglets are not standard on the
President II Baron or the President 600 Baron
conversions, they can be added as an option. In fact, Colemill has an STC to install the "Zip-Tip" winglets on any Baron
regardless of whether the full conversion is performed on the aircraft.
Many Colemill conversions also include the installation of a Shadin Digiflow fuel computer for highly precise fuel management. Each
Colemill modification also includes all new accessories such as hoses, belts, starters, alternators, magnetos, and Lord mounts.
