Georgia Architect Flies Fast and Lands Easy
in President II with Winglets
Jim Buckley, an architect in Swainsboro, Georgia, does a lot of traveling around the Peach State on business. But, he says, the travel doesn't take as long as it once did, thanks to the Colemill President II Conversion he had performed on his B-55 Baron.
Buckley said before the conversion he cruised at about 162 KIAS. Now he flies the Baron at 192.
Just as an example, Buckley said he makes frequent trips from his home base to Rome, Georgia. Before the conversion, the trip took about an hour and 20 minutes. Now it takes less than an hour.
Although "Zip Tip" winglets are an option on the President II modification, Buckley had them installed. He says he very glad he did. "They make landings a lot easier," he stated.
As for the President II's IO-550 300 H.P. engines, Buckley said, "I'm delighted with them. I really like the altitude compensating mixture control."
Buckley added that he is very pleased not only with his airplane, but with the service he received at Colemill. "They're wonderful folks," he said. "I have nothing but praise for the people at Colemill."
